Synopsis (taken from MyAnimeList): “A mecha otaku is reincarnated into another world as Ernesti Echevarria, also known as Eru. In this world, huge humanoid weapons known as Silhouette Knights exist. Dreaming of piloting those robots, Eru and his friends, Archid Olter and Adeltrud Olter, aim to become Knight Runners.”
Silhouette Knights are used to fight against magical creatures called Demon Beasts, creatures that threatens the peace and livelihood of humanity.
Knights and Magic anime has been released for summer 2017, adapting the popular light novel written by Hisago Amazake-no and illustrated by Kurogin. There is also a manga about it.
As of the date this post is published, three episodes of the series has been aired, exciting fans, and anime lovers who are looking for something to watch on summer 2017.
I`ve watched the first three episodes and it`s really awesome that we are getting right into action, having the mechas move around and battling monsters. Sadly, not everything is about action and the anime fails to grasp the essence of the story.
The anime is rushing through the storyline, skipping a lot of social interaction Eru undergoes before fighting the Behemoth. Also, the relationship between Adeltrud and Archid (AKA best friends) was formed really spontaneously with almost no substance at all. The growth Adeltrud and Archid experiences while playing with Eru was skipped in the anime, making them look OP on the anime. Another example of skipped interaction is with Eru meeting Stefania, making Stefania look like a background character in the anime.
What is a saving grace for the anime is that they are portraying earnestly with sincerity the love Eru has for mecha. Also, the mechas and the fighting. Additionally, I will give them bonus point for not skipping the part where Eru explains the strand type crystal muscle for the Silhouette Knights.
Considering everything I´ve written and how the anime serie is going to move toward, it`s a shame that it is not up to the full potential it could have been.
Is it good? It`s enjoyable but it`s better if you read the manga or light novel.
Will I be disappointed if I watch it? If you have high tolerance for poor character interaction, no.
Thanks for reading!
